SEAT, the official vehicle of the European Water Polo Championships Barcelona 2018

SEAT is the newest official sponsor of the LEN European Water Polo Championships Barcelona 2018 that will take place at the Bernat Picornell Pool in Barcelona starting on Saturday. The agreement signed today indicates that all of the official vehicles for the competition will be from SEAT, the only company that designs, develops, fabricates and commercializes cars in Spain.

This sponsorship deal is part of SEAT´s framework in which they are devoted to promoting important values in sports such as teamwork and overcoming obstacles. For example, earlier this year the car company became an official partner of the Spanish national football team, while also being a sponsor of the prestigious Copa del Rey for the past nine seasons. With the deal that was signed today SEAT joins the most important sporting event celebrated in Barcelona this year, in which 17 European nations will be competing.

Fernando Carpena, president of the Organizing Committee for Barcelona 2018, is very pleased with the deal that was agreed with a leading brand such as SEAT. “The usage of Spanish vehicles in an international sporting event that takes place in Spain—he declares— is a magnificent way to promote one of the most well known around the world ´made in Spain´ products.” Carpena is confident that the event will be a success and he reminds us that “water polo is the oldest team sport that is part of the Olympic program”.

The agreement states that SEAT will provide a fleet of cars to the Organizing Committee of Barcelona 2018 to help with the transportation of the main groups that will be a part of the event, such as competing teams, managers, media outlets or important guests.

The LEN European Water Polo Championships Barcelona 2018 are the most important water polo competitions of the 2018 season. 28 teams will be competing (16 men´s and 12 women´s), and other than USA´s women´s team, the best teams in international water polo will be present: such as Serbia who are Olympic Champions, Croatia who are World Champions and the women´s Spanish team, world runner up.

A total audience of a billion TV viewers is expected world wide. Television Española is the host broadcaster. The championships consist of 92 matches that will take place from July 14 through July 28.

This is the fourth occasion in which Spain hosts the LEN European Water Polo Championships. The first one was in 1970 in Barcelona, followed by Seville 1997 and then Malaga 2008.
