Men, 7th-8th Place Match: Hungary v Russia 8-9
Támas Märcz. head coach, Hungary:
“It wasn't a good European championship for us, we are upset with our result. Not because we played for the fifth to the eight place, it was the reality of what our team presented, but because in some of the matches we didn’t play like we should have. All the games were hard to play, and the level was very high in all of them. We showed some good signs, but now we have to think about what to do with this team in the future. We have a team that doesn't have much experience, it was the first time in any competition for 4 players, but they played a good championship. We need to get better to play well like Hungary usually do. About the final, I don´t know. Spain played very well in the semifinal, but Serbia is the favorite. If Spain wins it won´t be a surprise, I like the way they play, but Serbia is a complete team, they are strong and prepared, but I don´t know. Anything can happen in a final game."
Sergey Evstigneev, head Coach, Russia:
“It was a difficult game. It was the last game of the tournament for us, so we wanted to finish with a victory because we lost two games against Greece and Italy earlier in the competition. Today we won and we are going home in a good mood. This victory was against one of the best teams in the world, which will give us a positive impulse to continue developing our game in the future. I want to to thank the organizing committee because they did a great job."
