Wopit wishes good luck to the Spanish national teams at the High Performance Center
Wopit, the mascot of the 33rd LEN European Water Polo Championships Barcelona 2018, has visited today the two Spanish national teams at the High performance Center in Sant Cugat. The teams are polishing the final details before competing in Barcelona 2018. The women’s team will make their debut on Saturday against Hungary and the men’s on Monday against Malta.
Both Miki Oca and David Martín, head coaches for both squads, are waiting until the very last minute to reveal the final lists of 13 players. They will have to do so before Friday, which is when the LEN technical meeting is set to take place with all the participating teams.
This season, the men’s national team claimed silver at the Europa Cup and bronze at the World League. Oca’s team on the other hand, has made significant progress over the last few weeks clinching the firs spot in three tournaments: Portugalete, the Mediterranean Games and Canet.
Both teams will remain at the High Performance Center until Friday before moving to a hotel close to the Bernat Picornell Pool. Their general headquarters during the Championships will be the CN Montjuïc Pool.
